The short answer
In Dutch SME practice most search terms cost €0.40 to €3 per click, with legal, financial and insurance terms rising toward €5 to €15. The US search network average sits around $5 per click (LocaliQ/WordStream, 2025), with average search ad click-through around 6–7% and average conversion around 7%. Management is charged in the market as a fixed monthly fee or 10 to 20% of ad spend.
What drives the click price
Google Ads is an auction: price follows competition on the keyword and the quality of ad and landing page. The pattern holds across markets — the higher the customer value in a sector, the fiercer the bidding. A higher quality score lowers the cost per click directly, making it the cheapest saving available in any account.
Calculating backwards
Work from customer value: conversion rate times click price gives cost per lead. At €1.50 CPC and 7% conversion, a lead costs roughly €21. Compare that against what a customer is worth, and the budget follows — the method behind our pricing approach.
The Dutch specifics
Dutch-language campaigns face lower competition than English equivalents in most sectors, which favours foreign entrants who localise properly. Broad market spending figures sit on Dutch online advertising spend.
