Multilingual websites
One brand, every market.
Selling across borders multiplies everything: languages, search engines, legal texts, reading cultures. A multilingual website tames that multiplication into one system — and building that system is the signature discipline of this studio.
The short answer
A multilingual website by Ovolum is one architecture serving several markets: a language layer per market, full hreflang structure so each country ranks with its own pages, native-quality copy per language, and structured data that keeps your brand consistent for search engines and AI assistants everywhere. Our largest build to date spans seven languages and more than nine hundred pages — designed, written and engineered as one system.
Why multilingual is an engineering discipline
Translation is the smallest part of the work. The real questions are structural: which URL carries which language, how search engines learn that your German page answers German searches, how a brand keeps one voice across seven writing cultures, and how AI assistants cite you correctly in every market. The answers live in architecture — hreflang triplets, canonical discipline, per-market sitemaps, consistent structured data — and architecture is precisely what most multilingual sites lack. It is where we begin.
Proven at scale
Our flagship build is a knowledge platform spanning seven languages — Dutch, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese — with more than nine hundred pages, full hreflang coverage and per-market content written for each audience. Search consoles across those markets confirm the principle: each language layer earns its own positions, and the whole outranks the sum of its parts. That playbook — architecture first, then content per market, then measurement — now serves every multilingual project we take on.
Frequently asked questions
What does hreflang actually do?
It tells search engines which language version of a page belongs to which market, so google.de shows your German page and google.fr your French one. Implemented well it protects every market from duplicate-content confusion; implemented poorly it silently costs positions. We build it into the foundation and verify it per market.
Machine translation or native copy?
Native-quality copy per market, always for the pages that sell. Buyers read in their own language with their own idiom — and AI assistants cite sources that sound like the market they answer for. We write or supervise every language layer.
Can my existing website become multilingual?
Usually, yes. We audit the current structure, design the language architecture around it, and migrate with redirect discipline so existing positions carry over. Where a rebuild is the stronger route, the proposal says so plainly — with the numbers that show why.
What does a multilingual website cost?
It scales with markets and pages: platforms are phased per market, so each language layer proves itself before the next begins. Every project starts with one clear, fixed proposal — with the investment per phase stated on a single page.
